the world juniors are coming up in two days. to be honnestly, that's one of the reasons why i love christmas. the day of christmas, you always know what will be on the next day. while some people freak out over boxing day specials, us hockey fans freak out over our young hockey players bringing our countries together for a few days.
in times where love and peace are not always easy to find and where people in countries seem to be separated by race, religion, beliefs and money, the world juniors are a chance for everyone in a country to feel connected. we feel connected because for just a few days, we feel as though we all have something in common, and that's a great feeling!
the boys probably realize what they are doing but to what extent, who knows! do they realize that they make some enemies hug each other, or that they make complete strangers best friends for sixty minutes? what they do is something special. they bring countries closer together and make everyone forget their differences for a while.
the vibe from the arena during games is just completely amazing. i've never been to a WJC game in person but just watching them on tv makes you feel the vibe. the people cheering, everybody wearing their team colours, it's hard to explain how amazing it truly is.
our boys make us so proud, in times of victory and in times of defeat. i can say for myself, and for many out there that we will be proud of all our boys no matter what happens. obviously they have a goal, and we want them to achieve it but if they try their best, that's what counts. that they brought a country together, that's what counts.
before i finish this, i have no choice but to say: GO CANADA GO! good luck to all the countries participating!
